Bug Camp 2006 Registration Now Open for UNC Asheville’s Summer Bug Camp Rising 6th-8th grade students will have the chance to encounter some creepy, crawly creatures at UNC Asheville’s annual Summer Bug Camp.
The one-week program, designed for minority and female students interested in biology, will foster creative thinking through interactive, hands-on learning. Activities include collecting field trips and identifying, curating and experimenting with insects. This is the second year that Bug Camp will be offered tuition-free, thanks to a three-year $90,000 grant from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund’s Student Science Enrichment Program. All course materials will be provided. There will be two one-week sessions: June 12-16, 2006, and June 19-23. Both sessions will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the UNC Asheville campus. Students are required to bring their own lunch and snacks. Enrollment is limited to 20 students per week; early registration is suggested. For more information and to register, call Tim Forrest, UNC Asheville associate professor of biology, at 828-232-5150 or click here. tgh6pruncabugcampbb |
