Sustainable Living and Green Building Resource for Western North Carolina :: WORTHWHILE LINKS :: Associations :: WNC Regional Air Quality Agency WNCRAQA Mission: To protect and monitor the area's air quality, to safeguard the public health and safety, and to protect the environment. The Agency enforces Air Quality regulations in Buncombe County and the City of Asheville. Regulations cover everything from open burning to asbestos demolition. It also oversees pollution issues involving industrial facilities. WNCRAQA's air monitoring program measures ozone and particulate matter in the county. The Agency is overseen by an independent board of five members, of which three are appointed by the Buncombe County Commission, and two by the Asheville City Council.
